I’ve never been to Planned Parenthood’s annual Safe Sex Halloween Bash. Heard about it, but never had the extra cash lying around to go and truthfully, I’m not a huge Halloween kind of person.
But this year, I had really wanted to go – had a copy of their postcard mailer on my fridge, and was tossing the idea around for a few weeks. I believe in Planned Parenthood — think it does a phenomenal service to the community — and wanted to show my support. Plus, I’m pretty sure I need to get out just a little bit more than I currently do.
Still, ultimately, I decided my budget was too crunched to swing the ticket. I took the mailer down from my fridge and said sayonara to safe sex (er, the party, not the practice!).
Then, in a (spooky?) coincidence, someone offered me free tix just a few days later. So, I’m going! Now I just need to figure out what to be. I haven’t been to a costume party in a gazillion years and last time I was an Egyptian Queen. This year, maybe I’ll be something more sinister … like a Fox Television Talking Head.
Anyway, I know it’s a tad expensive … but if anyone out there is on the fence about what to do this Saturday night — October 30 … come on out and support safe (not scary!) sex.
