I’m one of those wacky people who LOVE their birthdays. I don’t really care that much about getting older (just don’t ask me how much older I’m getting! ;)) but I do care about having fun on April 13th. Which, by the way, is also the birth date of my adopted felines, Einstein, Coco, and Boomerang. Since they are all rescue cats, I decided we should all celebrate on the same day … and what better day than mine?! (Not too egocentric of me, huh?) They will get canned tuna fish for their dinner in honor of another year.
Today has already started off FABULOUSLY. After morning coffee, I went for an early morning walk on Siesta Beach with a good friend, another writer, and we had a lovely chat. I saw some kind of fish — a sailfish? a swordfish? — I don’t know what it was, but it jumped out of the water very high, twice, in fairly rapid succession. I’ve never seen anything like that. It definitely wasn’t a dolphin or porpoise, it was something that looked like it had a sharp sword-type thing and then a high fin. I really only caught two flashes of him (or her), but was a nice birthday present.
Leaving the beach, two real-live Easter bunnies, very cute and brown, hopped on the grass.
And, I came home to find this INTRUDER at my bird bath!

April 14, 2009 at 7:49 pmHappy Birthday Mary Catherine. Sounds like you had a pretty incredible day filled with best wishes and visits from many friends, new and old. I’m happy for you. You most definitely deserve it.
And it’s nice to see that our little “engineering project” has stood the test of time.
Take care and keep on blogging. Andy
