If you read my blog you know I’m not a big one for the party circuit here in Sarasota. But there’s one party I’m not missing this season and that’s next Tuesday’s (April 26) relaxed, reggae-infused, Sarasota Magazine “Best of Sarasota” blow-out by the bay … at beautiful, lush, Selby Gardens (one of my fave places in town).

Just click on this image to buy tickets and tell ’em MC sent ya!
Tickets are $50 but you get a lot of bang for those bucks — live reggae music by Democracy (I plan on kicking off my shoes and jammin’, mon) in a gorgeous setting by the water — the perfect place to kick back and relax before the heat (and hurricanes) of summer drive us all indoors. Plus lots of fun people (did I mention that I’ll be there? 🙂 ) to mix with, fab-u-lous food from I think close to 20 area culinary hotspots, cocktails (hmmmm … I can taste my martini now!), and I think the magazine has even got some swag and other surprises for guests. Plus the event benefits the Selby Gardens and the Season of Sharing … so it’s all for a good cause.
I would be remiss (or at least not earning my bragging rights) if I didn’t, ahem, mention the fact that LAST year, I snagged the Best of Sarasota (readers choice) for my blog! They eliminated the blogging category in their “Best of Sarasota” round-up this year — boo hoo! — but I still love reading the magazine’s dish on who, what, and where is the BEST! of Sarasota.
Okay, so c’mon out with me next Tuesday — I’m in the mood to party and hope the rest of Sarasota is too. Find me and say HELLO! Or yell at me for my column on burlesque, or tell me what you think about banning smoking in public spaces, or let’s commiserate about the soon-to-be-installed parking meters.
