Kisses are free … but the books cost $14.95! :)

If anyone’s interested … I’m doing a book sale/signing of my book, Sideways in Sarasota,
at Circle Books on St. Armands Circle tomorrow afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. It’s always a hoot being at Circle Books because the signing table is set up outside and you get a dog’s eye view of the street. Circle Books is located 478 John Ringling Boulevard, St. Armands Circle; pretty much right across the boulevard from the Foxy Lady boutique. (941.388.2850)

If you’re out and about, c’mon by and say hello, and yes, I’m giving away fabulously free kisses tomorrow to anyone who wants one … um, Hershey’s Chocolate Kisses, that is!

Bradenton’s Village Bookshop … I think I’m in love!

Last night the Village Bookshop in Bradenton was kind enough to have me in its bookstore for a signing of my book, Sideways in Sarasota. The signing coincided with the monthly Village of the Arts First Friday walk and the crowds meandering through the bookstore were OUTRAGEOUS! (more…)

Sideways in Sarasota … and in Bradenton this Friday night

In 2007, I wrote a column — see below — that later launched my book — Sideways in Sarasota — a compilation of newspaper columns from my Reality Chick days at the Pelican Press.

The Village Bookshop in Bradenton’s Village of the Arts is kindly hosting a book signing event for me this coming Friday night, March 6, beginning at 6 p.m. C’mon on out, say hello, buy a book, get my million-dollar (NOT!) signature, and get a glimpse of one of the most wonderful bookstores I’ve been in … in, well, nearly forever! iI hear they have a kickin’ open mic session beginning at 8 p.m. — I might say a few introductory words to get things going. MC Coolidge on Florida This Week … playing politico with the big dogs of sunshine state

So many of you wrote to me over the weekend and today letting me know that you tried to watch Florida This Week last Friday night and the cable company transmission failed about half-way through. Some of you have also asked for the link to FTW’s website video archive.

So, here you go — etched in infamy for all time (more…)

Florida This Week — MC’s television debut!

I’m flabbergasted, honored, and a bit humbled to have been invited to appear on Florida This Week — the weekly news television program, hosted by Rob Lorei. It’s a “Meet the Press” kind of format — but for West Central Florida issues, of course. (more…)

MC at USF Campus to Discuss “Media in Our Modern World”

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I visited the USF/Sarasota campus the other day (Tuesday, February 3) to speak to a class on “Media in Our Modern World.” The class is taught by Jim Brown, a former mayor of Sarasota and longtime journalist whose work appears, I believe, every other week in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. (Editor’s note: see correction in blog comments.)

The class was full of sharp, informed students of varied ages who pummeled me, albeit nicely, on all things blogosphere-related, and then some. I was able to give them my perspective and answer most, if not all, the questions — I enjoyed the dialog immensely and hope they did as well.

What did we talk about? Well, for one, a lot of people have a fear – a healthy one in my book – that there’s too much opinion and not enough researched fact in the blogosphere. (more…)

MC on the Circle … St. Armands Circle!

If you’re looking for something to do today … come on by Circle Books on St. Armands Circle and say hello! Circle Books is a great little bookstore located at 478 John Ringling Boulevard, St. Armands Circle; pretty much right across from the Foxy Lady boutique. (941.388.2850)

I’m doing a book signing event there today, for my book Sideways in Sarasota from 1 to 3 p.m., and hope the weather doesn’t mess up my careful coif (major blow-out)!

Circle Books, in case you haven’t been there — is a wicked charming book store. The kind that used to be ubiquitous in cities and towns everywhere. Books stacked floor to ceiling. Book sellers who know many of their customers by name and remember what books they bought the last time they were there … it’s that kind of place. The only thing they were missing was the standard mouser — large tabby sacked out in a sunny window waiting for nightfall and mice-chasing. They’ve got a wicked good Sarasota-centric selection of books as well.

Even if you’re not interested in Sideways — or my signing — you should swing by Circle Books sometime, it’s worth the visit.

Upcoming book signing …

Circle Books on St. Armands Circle has invited me to have a book signing event at their store on Saturday December 27th. So, if you’re interested in picking up a copy of Sideways in Sarasota, swing by Circle Books between 1 and 3 p.m., that afternoon and I’ll be happy to sign a copy for you.

I dropped by there today to give them a supply of books (yes, you can pick up a copy of my book there before December 27th, if you like!) and the place was BUZZING with people.

I’m a sucker for a bookstore and of course, was itching to recommend books to the customers, but I managed to rein in my book mania. Even if you’re not interested in Sideways — you should swing by Circle Books sometime — it’s worth the visit.

Book Signing — Saturday December 27 1-3 p.m. at Circle Books 478 John Ringling Boulevard, St. Armands Circle (pretty much right across from the Foxy Lady boutique). 941.388.2850.

MC on the radio tomorrow chatting up the All Faiths/Reality Reader fundraising drive

Emily Berno, one of the hosts of the popular local radio program — Truly Sustainable Sarasota — which airs Thursday mornings from 9 to 10 am, heard about the All Faiths/Reality Readers fundraising drive and has invited me on air tomorrow to chat the drive up and hopefully encourage listeners to chip in with their own donations.

It will be a quick piece — 5 or 10 minutes or so. 9:45 a.m., Thursday, December 11 and, if you feel like listening in, you can listen from your computer.

I’ll be posting an update on this blog sometime by Friday about how the drive is going and I sure do appreciate all the emails of support and the interest in the drive!
